Job Title: Project Architect (Architect II) Job Description
This Project Architect (Architect II) role supports the design and delivery of projects across a variety of sectors in Hawaii. It is well-suited for a developing professional with a strong foundation in architectural design and documentation who is eager to grow within a collaborative, mentorship-driven studio. You will contribute across multiple phases of projects, take on increasing responsibility over time, and play a key role in maintaining design quality, technical rigor, and overall team performance.
Responsibilities
- Support architectural design, documentation, and coordination across multiple project phases, from early concept through construction.
- Assist in preparing drawings and digital models for schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
- Apply working knowledge of building systems, building codes, and construction methods to ensure technically sound project work.
- Coordinate assigned project components with internal team members and external consultants to support cohesive, integrated solutions.
- Support the development of client presentation materials, including graphics, renderings, diagrams, and other visual content.
- Assist with construction administration tasks, such as processing RFIs, reviewing submittals, and preparing addenda.
- Maintain organization, consistency, and quality across all project deliverables and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with senior staff, actively participate in a team-oriented studio environment, and contribute to a culture of mentorship and professional growth.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
- Typically 5 or more years of professional architectural experience.
- Strong foundation in architectural design, documentation, and project coordination.
- Proficiency in Revit for design, modeling, and construction documentation.
- Working understanding of building codes, construction documentation standards, and coordination practices.
- Ability to support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and addenda.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly to team members and consultants.
- Solid organization and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks and maintain consistent quality.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to project challenges.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Licensure not required; actively pursuing architectural licensure is preferred and supported.
- Familiarity with additional design tools such as SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience preparing graphics, renderings, and diagrams for client presentations.
- Interest in ongoing professional development, including continuing education and skill-building.
- Comfort working in a mentorship-focused environment that encourages learning and growth.
- Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and collaborate effectively in a studio setting.
Work Environment
This position is based in a professional architectural studio with a standard Monday through Friday schedule. The team follows a 9/80 work schedule, providing every other Friday off to support work-life balance. Work is performed primarily in-office, using tools such as Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The studio culture emphasizes mentorship, clear growth opportunities, and ongoing professional development, including CEU lunches and licensure support. The work environment includes paid parking at the office and access to flexible schedule options. This is a Permanent position based out of Honolulu, HI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. HMSA, will go over with candidates. Standard to HI.
