Job Description
BAE Systems is actively seeking a dynamic Sr. Systems Engineer to enhance our NATO SEASPARROW Project Office (NSPO). This exciting international cooperative program includes 12 member nations, including the US. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary technical subject matter expert to the NSPO Technical Director for the ESSM family and next-generation missile variants. As the Lead Systems Engineer he/she will be responsible for the coordination, planning and technical execution of system engineering efforts, utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering, while providing formal supervisory management, mentorship, and professional development for a team of BAE systems engineers. This position is pivotal in driving the NSPO’s digital transformation, from document-centric to model-centric deliverables, and ensuring seamless integration between US and International partner weapon systems.
Key Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) & Subject Matter Expertise

- Provide expert system engineering support services to the Technical Director for the acquisition and development of new weapon systems and upgrades to existing cooperative products.
- Lead the development of Technical Review Action Plans (TRAP) and oversee the execution of SETR events (e.g., PDR, CDR), ensuring all technical documentation meets rigorous standards and provides accurate information for decision-making. Collaborate with other Technical Divisions to develop Technical Review Action Plans (TRAP) for various supporting systems in different phases of the acquisition system.
- Support the integration and interoperability of multiple systems to function as a cohesive "system of systems," collaborating with Navy Field Activities, Design Agents, and International stakeholders.
- Maintain expertise in industry trends, technologies, and best practices in systems engineering and acquisition, with a focus on Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
Supervisory Management & Leadership
- Supervise a BAE team of engineers, providing daily technical guidance, conducting formal performance reviews, and managing workload distribution to ensure all project milestones are met.
- Translate the NSPO Technical Director’s high-level objectives into actionable technical tasks and execution plans for the engineering team.
- Oversee the onboarding of new technical personnel and serve as the primary mentor for junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence in MBSE and Digital Engineering.
- Closely coordinate with our Export Control Manager to ensure that technical data transfers to Consortium and Third-Party nations comply with ITAR and approved Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and with our Releasability expert to facilitate release of technical information to the Consortium.
MBSE & Digital Engineering
- Lead the implementation, and scaling of selected MBSE tools (e.g. specifically SysML V2, Cameo, ANSYS SAM), ensuring the BAE team is proficient in their application.
- Enforce the governance framework for system models to ensure consistency and fidelity across BAE, government, and other contractor teams.
- Drive the implementation of Digital Engineering (DE) initiatives on-site at NSPO, migrating the program from document-centric to model-centric deliverables.
- Establish and oversee QA processes to validate the reliability and accuracy of system models throughout the development lifecycle.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years of Systems Engineering experience in a DoD/DoW setting, with at least 2-3 years in a formal or informal supervisory/lead role.
- Demonstrated mastery of SETR processes and the full Systems Engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, analysis, V&V).
- Demonstrated proficiency with MBSE methods and hands-on experience with specialized tools (e.g. Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Simulation Toolkit, and Teamwork Cloud).
- Experience in application of modeling to support a system’s or SoS’ requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities throughout the acquisition lifecycle phases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must be a US citizen and possess a DoD/DoW Secret clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master’s degree in an applied science or engineering discipline.
- Deep understanding of US Navy weapon systems, acquisition lifecycles, or direct experience supporting the NSPO Project.
- Proven track record of implementing a "model-based culture" within a large-scale government organization.
- Knowledge of SysML V2 standards and current toolsets.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
