General Description Classification Standards
Plans, organizes and supervises the activities of Water field service representatives, supervises inspector's duties to include repairing water meters large and small, replacing water meters, fixing leaks, turning off lock meter etc. This is an experienced professional capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the position or specialty with limited guidance or review. This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbent in a work group who demonstrates the necessary knowledge, ability, and performance.
Supervision Received
Most of the work is completed under the direction Of the Water Field Service Team Manager. Normally receive guidance regarding overall mission, scheduling, problem solving, unusual priorities, etc.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervises assigned Water field service representatives in the completion of meter leaks. register repairs, meter replacements, turn off delinquent locks and other duties related to watershed management. Ensures effective. safe completion of jobs in compliance with established rules, regulations and policy guidelines.
- Trains, instructs, and coaches in performing repair and maintenance on small and large meters. Jobs assignments typically include, but are not limited to repairing curb stops, turning services off & on, and responding to no waters and meter leaks.

- Provides input for crew members• performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Answers questions and provide information to the internal and external customers. Demonstrates diplomatic customer service.
Decision Making
Always ensures the safety of team members and the public. Follows standard operating procedures (SOP) and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. May use expertise to adjust methods to accommodate unforeseen site conditions.
Leadership provided
Supervision is provided to crew members daily. At times, this position will assist with hands on training of staff and new hires as well as coaching of employees and assisting on jobs in the field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of most concepts and methods related to water meter repair. Knowledge Of site safety requirements and related regulations and policies.
- Ability to use GIS maps and GPS system and meter locating equipment.
- Ability to document accounts accurately. Skill in performing all typical tasks associated with supervising the Water Field Service Representatives. Ability to train and manage a group Of unskilled and semi-skilled employees in carrying out job responsibilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate diplomatically with crew members and customers to successfully address concerns.
- Ability to manage conflict. Ability to adapt to Changes in the work environment.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Four (4) years of construction or maintenance experience in wastewater collection systems.
Preferred Education & Experience
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Licensures and Certifications
Valid Georgia drivers license Water Distribution License required for this position.
Essential Capabilities and Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. Ability to stand. crawl and function in a confined or restricted space.
