Overview:
The Payroll Specialist provides administrative and transactional support to the payroll team in the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll. This position assists with timekeeping review, payroll data entry, employee record maintenance, document management, employee inquiries, and other recurring payroll activities. T he Payroll Specialist helps ensure payroll information is complete, accurate, appropriately approved, and submitted according to established deadlines. This position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to manage deadline-driven work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the payroll team with the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll.
- Reviews employee timecards for completeness, accuracy, and required manager approval.
- Identifies missing punches, unapproved timecards, incorrect pay codes, and other potential discrepancies.
- Communicates with employees and managers to obtain missing information and resolve routine timekeeping issues.
- Supports the administration of payroll deductions, including benefit deductions, garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other authorized deductions.
- Responds to routine employee questions regarding paychecks, direct deposits, deductions, taxes, timekeeping, and payroll schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to follow established processes and meet firm payroll deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional and service-oriented approach when assisting employees and managers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas, sorting, filtering, and data review.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and other standard business applications.
Preferred:
- Associate degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related field preferred.
- One to two years of payroll, accounting, timekeeping, human resources, or administrative experience preferred.
- Experience working with payroll or timekeeping systems preferred.
- Experience with Paycom or a comparable human capital management system is preferred.
- Experience supporting a multi-location or multi-state workforce is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
