About this role

Position summary

The CNC Machinist sets up, operates, and monitors computer numerical control machines used to manufacture precision metal components. The position verifies that equipment operates correctly, parts meet drawing requirements, and routine machine care is completed.

Essential duties and responsibilities

- Read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing orders, and work instructions.

- Set up and operate Mazak lathes and other assigned CNC equipment.

- Select the appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, offsets, and workholding needed to complete each job.

- Adjust machine speeds, feeds, tooling, and cutting methods to maintain dimensional accuracy and acceptable finishes.

- Monitor machine operation and respond to tool wear, alarms, or process concerns.

- Inspect first pieces, in process parts, and completed parts using applicable measuring and inspection tools.

- Record required production and inspection information accurately and maintain material and job traceability.

- Perform authorized routine maintenance and report equipment problems promptly.

- Communicate and coordinate with production, quality, programming, and support personnel.

- Maintain the work area and equipment in accordance with safety and housekeeping requirements.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager or Manufacturing Supervisor.

Qualifications and requirements

- Minimum of three years of CNC machining experience.

- Ability to set up and operate a Mazak lathe and/or mill.

- Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing orders.

- Experience using precision measuring and inspection tools to verify finished part conformance.

- Experience selecting and maintaining cutting tools, fixtures, and machine tooling.

- Ability to work safely in a fast paced manufacturing environment with strong attention to detail.

- Ability to understand or make basic edits to CNC programs is preferred.

Quality and safety responsibilities

- Follow applicable work instructions, inspection requirements, and QMS policies and procedures.

- Stop work and report nonconforming parts, damaged tooling, machine problems, hazards, or unsafe conditions.

- Use machine guards, interlocks, lifting devices, and personal protective equipment as required.

- Keep chips, coolant, tools, and materials controlled to maintain a clean and safe work area.

- Abide by all company policies and support a safe, quality focused workplace.

Shift and employment information

Full time positions may be assigned to day or night shift. Day shift is 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Night shift is 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The standard schedule consists of 10 hour shifts. Compensation is $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Physical requirements

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk; use hands to handle tools, parts, and controls; reach with hands and arms; and bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or twist as the work requires. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and must have the manual dexterity and visual ability needed to safely operate equipment and inspect work. Work environment

Work is performed in a fabrication and manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, powered tools, welding and grinding operations, airborne particles, industrial vehicles, and varying noise levels. Required personal protective equipment must be worn, including hearing protection in designated areas.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED, required

· 2+ years of CNC lathe and/or mill experience, required

· 5+ years of multi-axis experience, considered a plus

· Experience with HAAS machines and/or CNC’s with Fanuc controls, preferred

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, required

· Ability to perform parts inspection, hold drawing tolerances and use measuring tools, required

· Ability to solve practical problems, required

· Ability to understand CNC programs, preferred

· Ability to run more than one machine at a time, preferred
