About this role
Intuit is a mission-driven, global financial platform company that gives everyone the opportunity to prosper. We're using technology to build solutions to challenging financial problems for millions of people around the world.
Come join the GBSG Mid-Market organization as a Group Manager of Software Development (M3), leading engineering teams building the industry's truly AI-native ERP. Mid-Market is one of the fastest growing segments of the business, and this is an opportunity to come in at the ground floor to shape both the product and the technology foundation — reimagining how mid-market businesses run their operations with AI at the core, not bolted on. In this role, you will lead high-performing engineering teams, set technical direction for AI-native product experiences, and leverage the state of the art in AI and agentic technology to build systems where intelligent automation and seamless AI-to-human collaboration are first-class design principles.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams and technical leaders across backend services, data, and AI/agentic systems for the Mid-Market ERP.
- Set technical direction for AI-native product experiences — leveraging state-of-the-art AI and agentic technology (LLM orchestration, multi-agent systems, tool use, retrieval, evaluation frameworks) to fundamentally change how mid-market customers run their operations.
- Partner with product, design, architecture, and platform teams to define strategic roadmaps, sequence investments, and manage complex cross-organizational dependencies in a fast-moving, zero-to-one environment.
- Drive the design and delivery of AI-native workflows that embed AI-driven automation with seamless AI-to-human collaboration — human-in-the-loop patterns, approvals, and explainability.
- Lead teams building intelligent systems that proactively capture data signals, prevent issues before they occur, automate processes, and improve customer decision making.
- Drive scalable service and data foundations — highly available, secure, and performant architectures with the versioning, release safety, and dependency management required for a rapidly evolving platform.
- Establish the reliability, safety, observability, and evaluation standards required to run AI systems in production — including offline evals, online experimentation, and quality/safety monitoring.
- Drive operational excellence through strong reliability, observability, incident management, and platform health, adoption, and performance metrics.
- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on technical excellence, customer empathy, accountability, and sustainable execution across concurrent workstreams — including AI-assisted development practices across the team.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including experience managing engineers or engineering teams.
- Proven track record building and operating large-scale business applications, SaaS platforms, or distributed systems; ERP, financials, or business operations domain experience is a strong plus.
- Applied AI fluency, with hands-on experience shipping generative AI and agentic systems to production — LLM orchestration, multi-agent architectures, tool use/function calling, retrieval (RAG), and evaluation/guardrail frameworks. Experience leading teams that have rolled out agentic product experiences is a huge plus.
- Strong technical depth in architecture, API design, distributed systems, platform reliability, staged rollouts, and breaking-change management for widely consumed systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-team initiatives with significant cross-organizational dependencies while balancing near-term delivery, technical debt, and long-term maintainability.
- Experience with modern service and data technologies — e.g., Java, Python, TypeScript, event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub), data processing (Spark), cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and CI/CD practices.
- Experience instrumenting and iterating on AI systems in production, making data-backed decisions through experimentation and measurement.
- Builder's mindset — energized by ambiguity and the opportunity to shape a new product and platform from the ground up in a space where the AI landscape evolves month to month.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical leaders up to and including executives.
