MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Power BI Developer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role in:
- Designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI
- Developing interactive dashboards, reports, visualizations, and analytical solutions that provide actionable insights to business and technical stakeholders
- Gathering and translating business and reporting requirements into scalable and reusable Power BI solutions
- Developing semantic models, relationships, measures, calculated columns, and other analytical components using DAX
- Using Power Query and M language to transform, cleanse, integrate, and prepare data for reporting and analytics
- Connecting Power BI solutions to enterprise data sources, including SQL Server, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Dataverse, Excel, APIs, and other structured data sources
- Designing efficient data models using dimensional modeling and star-schema principles to support enterprise reporting and analytics
- Developing and optimizing SQL queries, views, and data transformations used by Power BI solutions
- Configuring and implementing row-level security (RLS) and other report and dataset access controls
- Publishing and managing reports, semantic models, dashboards, and applications within the Power BI Service
- Configuring and troubleshooting data refreshes, data gateways, connections, and scheduled refresh processes
- Monitoring and optimizing Power BI report, semantic model, and query performance
- Supporting deployment and promotion of Power BI solutions across development, test, and production environments
- Performing unit and integration testing and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT)
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with reports, data models, data quality, refreshes, gateways, and data-source connectivity
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, data definitions, report specifications, and solution documentation
- Collaborating with business analysts, developers, administrators, architects, data teams, and stakeholders throughout the solution development lifecycle
- Presenting analytical findings, dashboards, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Providing technical guidance and knowledge support to end users and junior staff
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Power BI Developer must have:
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying business intelligence and analytics solutions required
- Hands-on experience developing enterprise reports, dashboards, semantic models, and analytical solutions using Microsoft Power BI
- Experience integrating and transforming data from multiple enterprise data sources
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
- Strong proficiency with DAX for measures, calculations, and analytical logic
- Strong proficiency with Power Query and M for data transformation and preparation
- Experience designing semantic models, relationships, hierarchies, measures, and calculated columns
- Experience with dimensional data modeling and star-schema design
- Strong SQL skills, including developing and optimizing queries used for reporting and analytics
- Experience integrating Power BI with SQL Server, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Dataverse, Excel, APIs, and other enterprise data sources
- Experience implementing row-level security (RLS) and managing access to Power BI content
- Experience publishing and managing reports, semantic models, dashboards, workspaces, and Power BI applications
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting scheduled refreshes, data connections, and on-premises data gateways
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize Power BI report, semantic model, DAX, and query performance
- Understanding of data quality, data validation, and reporting governance principles
- Experience supporting deployment of Power BI solutions across development, test, and production environments
- Familiarity with Power BI deployment pipelines and source/version control practices
- Familiarity with Agile methodology
- Ability to translate business and reporting requirements into scalable, maintainable, and reusable technical solutions
- Ability to communicate complex data and analytical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- Ability to provide technical guidance and knowledge support to junior staff
- Willingness to stay current on Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and emerging analytics technologies

The likely salary range for this position is $76,565 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
