MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Senior SharePoint Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our customers. You will play a crucial role in:
- Administering SharePoint Server, including Central Administration, service applications, PowerShell scripting, backup and recovery, cumulative updates (CUs), health monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Administering SharePoint Online at the tenant level, including site lifecycle management, permissions, external sharing, app catalogs, storage, and migrations using SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT) or equivalent tools
- Supporting Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP), retention, information protection, and compliance policies applicable to SharePoint Online
- Managing SharePoint security, permissions, role-based access, and governance controls
- Monitoring and maintaining SharePoint availability, capacity, performance, and overall platform health
- Supporting backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery activities for SharePoint environments
- Administering and troubleshooting supporting infrastructure and services, including Active Directory, IIS, SQL Server, and network load balancing
- Using PowerShell to automate SharePoint administrative activities, reporting, monitoring, and recurring operational tasks
- Supporting integrations between SharePoint and Microsoft 365 services, including Power Apps and Power Automate
- Maintaining auditing, monitoring, and operational reporting
- Managing licenses, service agreements, and procurement, as applicable
- Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation for operations and maintenance
- Enforcing change and configuration management processes
- Presenting and communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Serving as a technical resource for troubleshooting, consultation, and guidance of junior staff
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Senior SharePoint Administrator must have:
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required
Experience:
- 6+ years of related experience with enterprise-scale systems administration required
- Demonstrable hands-on experience administering, managing, configuring, and governing enterprise SharePoint environments
- Hands-on experience supporting both SharePoint Server and SharePoint Online/Microsoft 365 environments
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency administering and configuring enterprise SharePoint Server (On-Premises) and SharePoint Online/Microsoft 365 environments
- Strong knowledge of SharePoint Central Administration, service applications, cumulative updates, backup/recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Experience with SharePoint Online tenant administration, including site lifecycle management, permissions, external sharing, app catalogs, storage, and migrations
- Knowledge of Microsoft Purview DLP, retention, information protection, and compliance capabilities as they apply to SharePoint Online
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, IIS, SQL Server, and network load balancing
- Expertise in PowerShell scripting for administration, automation, monitoring, and reporting
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate integration with SharePoint
- Understanding of SharePoint security, governance, permissions, and role-based access controls
- Understanding of Agile methodology
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to translate complex business and technical needs into robust, scalable, and reusable technical solutions
- Ability to present technical concepts to individuals with diverse backgrounds, knowledge bases, and job positions
- Ability to serve as a support resource to mentor, coach, and develop junior staff
- Willingness to stay current on SharePoint, Microsoft 365, security, compliance, and emerging technologies

The likely salary range for this position is $79,900 - $108,100. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
