Job Title: Electronics Test Technician Job Description This role focuses on testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic printed circuit boards (PCBs) for drone systems on a manufacturing floor. The Electronics Test Technician diagnoses issues down to the component level, operates a variety of test equipment, and supports continuous improvement in product quality and reliability. The position requires strong technical troubleshooting abilities, careful documentation of test results, and effective collaboration with production and assembly teams. Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electronic circuit boards down to the component level to identify and resolve faults.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot RF system issues to ensure proper functionality and performance.
- Set up, perform, and analyze experiments and tests according to established product test procedures.
- Record test results, findings, and observations accurately into product test records and documentation.
- Analyze and diagnose faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment at the system level.
- Read and interpret electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and technical publications to support repair activities.
- Operate test equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators to perform analysis, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Test electronic PCBs for drone applications, ensuring they meet functional and quality requirements.
- Perform soldering tasks as needed to repair or rework electronic assemblies.
- Assist team members in resolving technical challenges and escalate complex issues to appropriate leadership when necessary.
- Provide guidance and on-the-job training to other Electronics Test Technicians on operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.
- Oversee the appropriate use of materials, test equipment, and tools to maximize efficiency and maintain a safe and organized work area.
- Communicate effectively with production and assembly teams to coordinate work, clarify issues, and support production goals.
- Adapt to changing priorities and instructions from leadership while maintaining a positive attitude and strong team focus.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to support production and testing operations.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electronic circuit boards down to the component level.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot RF system issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including electronic schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, block diagrams, and technical publications.
- Working knowledge of electronics, PCB testing, and general electronic troubleshooting practices.
- Capability to operate test equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic, and integrated circuits.
- Hands-on experience testing electronic PCBs, particularly in applications such as drones or similar systems.
- Soldering skills suitable for rework and repair of electronic assemblies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when following test procedures and recording results.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing instructions and priorities from leadership.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork orientation.
- Ability to work on a manufacturing floor environment and follow established procedures and safety practices.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, or a closely related field (degree not required with this level of experience).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting or mentoring other technicians in test, repair, or maintenance activities.
- Experience providing guidance and training on operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures.
- Familarity drone electronics, RF systems, or similar high-reliability electronic products.
- Familiarity with structured product test procedures and documentation practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to oversee efficient use of materials, tools, and test equipment to support productivity.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing complex electronic issues.
Work Environment This position operates on a manufacturing floor, working closely with production and assembly teams. The role involves frequent use of electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators, as well as tools for PCB testing and soldering. The environment is hands-on and technical, with a focus on testing and repairing electronic PCBs for drone systems. Work may involve standing at test stations, handling small electronic components, and following established safety and operational procedures. Dress is typically appropriate for a manufacturing and electronics lab setting, with any required protective equipment or attire provided according to facility policies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
