About this role

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Finance Intern will support the Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams with recurring accounting and financial reporting activities, budgeting and forecasting support, and special projects that provide broad exposure to corporate finance within the banking industry.

Primary Accountabilities

- Assist with daily accounting functions and account reconciliations.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Participate in quarterly financial reporting processes.
- Support finance-related system implementations and process improvement initiatives.
- Complete special projects that provide value to the Finance department and exposure to multiple business functions while collaborating with the Accounting and FP&A teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

- The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
- Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Must reside local to the Effingham, IL area and report to the Effingham office.
- Enrolled in an Accounting, Finance, or related business degree program at a college or university with at least 2 years completed.
- Works well in team environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Willingness to learn new systems and concepts and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
