At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The Enterprise Risk Management Intern will provide assistance to the Enterprise Risk Management Department with recurring risk management responsibilities and special projects that support the Bank's operational risk framework, governance processes, and enterprise-wide risk reporting.

Primary Accountabilities

- Assist with developing and updating enterprise process maps and risk and control documentation to strengthen the Bank's operational risk framework.
- Support operational risk assessments and assist with analyzing Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), operational risk events, and related risk data.
- Assist with enterprise risk reporting and governance documentation to support clear and consistent risk management practices.
- Contribute to special projects related to governance, third-party risk, business continuity, process improvement, and change management.
- Collaborate with Risk team members and business partners across the Bank to gain exposure to banking operations, internal controls, regulatory expectations, and enterprise risk management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

- The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
- Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Must reside local to the St. Louis, MO area and report to the St. Louis office.
- Enrolled in a degree program with courses of study including Finance, Accounting, Business, Risk Management, Information Systems, or a related field at a college or university with at least 2 years completed.
- Works well in team environment.

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
- Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Interest in banking, enterprise risk management, internal controls, audit, or regulatory compliance is preferred.
- Proficiency in using AI tools or chat models is preferred.
