Job Title: Repository Technician Job Description
The Repository Technician is responsible for the receipt, inventory, storage, and shipping of clinical agents, chemical compounds, investigational products, and biological specimens to clinical sites and laboratories. The role involves handling materials stored at temperatures ranging from ambient to -196°C, some of which may have hazardous or infectious properties. You will use database applications and follow standard precautionary procedures to work independently, manage documentation, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders under the guidance of experienced professional or technical staff. Occasional travel (up to approximately 25%) to nearby sites may be required.
Responsibilities
- Receive biological specimens, chemical compounds, clinical agents, and investigational products in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements.
- Verify the quality, type, and quantity of materials received and ensure all appropriate documentation, such as packing lists, is accurate and complete.
- Pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, and store items for inventory and shipment, maintaining accuracy and adherence to customer specifications.
- Provide order fulfillment services for clinical sites and laboratories, ensuring timely and correct delivery of products.
- Weigh dry chemical compounds and aliquot liquid biological samples or products following standard operating procedures.
- Perform general documentation management, including generating, reviewing, archiving, and destroying records as required.
- Maintain a high level of quality to ensure customers receive accurate products within the requested timeframes.
- Work safely and effectively in warehouse and repository environments with temperatures ranging from ambient to -196°C, including cold chain operations.
- Assure compliance with cGMP CFR parts 210 and 211, FDA requirements, and company quality systems.
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), facility safety guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Use inventory systems, Microsoft Office, and shipping software to support daily operations and maintain accurate records.
- Recognize deviations from accepted practice and escalate or address issues in accordance with established procedures.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external clients, providing professional and customer-focused service.
- Follow general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects to complete tasks accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain strong attendance, arrive on time daily, and meet schedules and deadlines consistently.
- Participate in training through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training (OJT), and company training protocols to learn and apply repository procedures.
- Travel as needed between designated division sites to support repository operations, with advance notice provided.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with shipping and receiving operations, including handling samples and inventory, preferred.
- Experience working with cold chain environments, dry ice, and -80°C freezers preferred.
- Ability to consistently and independently follow policies, procedures, and instructions and meet schedules.
- Basic digital literacy, including the ability to navigate inventory systems, Microsoft Office, and shipping software.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to recognize deviations from accepted practice and respond appropriately.
- Ability to follow general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new projects.
- Reliability in attendance and punctuality, with readiness to start work on time each day.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis, and to push and pull up to 50 pounds routinely.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician credential preferred.
- Prior experience in repository operations, cold chain logistics, or sample management is advantageous.
- Knowledge of universal precautions and general laboratory practices preferred.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control processes preferred.
- Experience working in environments involving biological specimens or hazardous materials is beneficial.
- Ability to perform highly repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as business needs require.
- Willingness to travel between division sites as needed with advance notice.
- Comfort working under established cGMP, FDA, and company quality system requirements.
Work Environment
This role is based in a warehouse and repository environment that includes cold chain operations and exposure to a wide range of temperatures, from ambient conditions down to -196°C. You will work around dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, and potentially hazardous or infectious agents, with marked changes in temperature throughout the day. The work is highly repetitive and requires frequent walking, standing, reaching, and continuous lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds. You may occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, or crawl to complete tasks. Standard operating procedures, facility safety guidelines, universal precautions, and regulatory requirements such as cGMP CFR parts 210 and 211 guide daily activities. The schedule is primarily first shift (approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), but you must be flexible to work varying hours and overtime as needed. Travel to nearby division sites will be required at times, with advance notice provided. Training is delivered through one-on-one instruction, on-the-job training, and standardized training protocols, supporting a structured and safety-focused work culture.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
