About this role

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Designer-Drafter Job Description This role focuses on transforming engineering concepts, redlined drawings, and standard product designs into accurate custom production documentation using 2D and 3D CAD tools. You will support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electro-mechanical equipment designs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, contributing directly to high-quality capital equipment and product solutions. Responsibilities

- Create and modify detailed 2D drawings and 3D models based on engineering direction, redlined prints, and standard product designs.
- Develop custom parts and assemblies, and produce complete production drawings that are ready for manufacturing.
- Create and update bills of materials (BOMs) within the ERP system to ensure accurate and current product data.
- Maintain accurate design documentation, including revision histories and drawing records, in alignment with established procedures.
- Ensure all drafting and design work complies with internal standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve design issues.
- Support the development and improvement of electro-mechanical equipment designs, including machine and capital equipment components.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance design practices, documentation quality, and efficiency.
- Utilize PDM and vault systems to manage CAD files, control revisions, and support configuration management.

Essential Skills

- 35 years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing or product design environment.
- Experience designing electro-mechanical products or capital equipment.
- Proficiency in 2D drafting, including layout drawings and pneumatic schematics.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling, assemblies, and detail drawings.
- Hands-on experience with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design.
- Experience using DraftSight and/or AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM for managing design data and revisions.
- Ability to create and update bills of materials (BOMs) within an ERP system.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot design and documentation issues.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Associates Degree in CAD Design or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with Autodesk Inventor for 3D design is a plus.
- Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar vault systems is a plus.
- Machine design experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous.
- SOLIDWORKS certification is a plus and demonstrates advanced proficiency.
- Experience in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, or related disciplines is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
- Comfort working with both electro-mechanical systems and capital equipment designs.

Work Environment This is an onsite position in a clean, air-conditioned manufacturing and engineering environment. You will work hands-on with modern CAD tools, including SolidWorks, DraftSight/AutoCAD, and potentially Autodesk Inventor and Vault, alongside PDM systems for data and revision control. The role is structured as a 69 month contract with the potential to transition to a direct position depending on business needs and performance. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
