General Description and Classification Standards:
Performs completion and submittal of permit applications based on construction schedule as provided by the project team. Maintains collaborative network with other municipalities, public works/transportation departments, and other governmental agencies that we submit permit requests to. Coordinate and secure the payment method (if required) to accompany additional permit applications. Summarizes data and provides commentary or observations based on analysis.

Supervision Received:
Performs work under general supervision with review and advice from manager or a senior level professional.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviews permit applications for accuracy and compliance
• Communicates verbally and in writing with other City employees, vendors, customers, and other external stakeholders relative to status and procedures for permit application submittal.
• Prepares, delivers and/or pick up additional permit applications for utilities or other services.
• Monitors permit duration and submit extension requests when required
• Coordinate and secure the payment method (if required) to accompany additional permit applications
• Maintain network to other cities, public works departments, and governmental agencies that we collaborate with related to permit applications.
• Reviews monthly statistics and data and prepares operating reports.
• Performs other duties related to the management and submission of permit requests and other administrative tasks related to the area of assignment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully, it is not an exhaustive list.
• Knowledge of Microstation and other, CAD based applications used for drafting technical drawings required for permit submittal
• Skilled in operating a computer and computer software; skilled in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of permit application procedures for the municipal agencies and other partners that we serve
Minimum Qualifications :
Associate’s degree or two-year equivalent degree. (Professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis).
3-5 years of experience working for a utility or municipal corporation in a permitting related role is required.
Preferred Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of progressive experience in permit application review and processing
Licensures and Certifications:
Valid State Issued Driver's License required

Sedentary work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
Medium work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Heavy work:
Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Very heavy work :
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
