About this role

As the Health Services Business Data Analyst, you will support quality, operational, and process improvement initiatives by transforming healthcare data into accurate, timely, and actionable reporting. You will collaborate with teams across the organization to develop analyses and reporting solutions that inform decisions and improve performance.

You will:

• Design, develop, validate, document, and maintain ad hoc and recurring analyses, including those that evolve into complex data integration and business intelligence solutions.

• Interpret business and technical requirements to develop data queries and specifications.

• Analyze encounter, claims, membership, provider, pharmacy, and quality measure data.

• Partner with Information Systems, Health Outcomes and Analysis, pharmacy, quality, and other stakeholders to support internal and external reporting.

• Support data governance, testing, issue resolution, and the transition of stable reporting processes into production.

• Serve as a departmental resource for business intelligence applications.

• Support healthcare measures and benchmarks used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, California Department of Health Care Services, National Committee for Quality Assurance, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other recognized organizations.

Salary Range: $82,434 - $171,779/annually

We’re seeking a detail-oriented, analytical individual with:
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5 or more years of experience in health care information technology, data analytics, business systems analysis, business intelligence, reporting or a closely related area
- Advanced knowledge of Structured Query Language programming and query development using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or comparable relational database platforms
- Thorough knowledge of health care encounter and claims, membership, provider, pharmacy, and quality-measure data
- In-depth understanding of health care measurement specifications and reporting requirements used by CMS, California FMHC, NCQA, and related organizations
- Thorough knowledge of data warehouses, data structures, data marts, dimensional models, metadata, data lineage, source-to-target mapping, and data-governance practices
- Skill in translating business and user needs into reports, dashboards, views, use cases, use stories, technical specifications, and business-intelligence objects
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, reconciliation, validation, testing, and quality-assurance skills
- Experience in documenting requirements, processes, definitions, dependencies, testing results, decisions, and downstream impacts clearly and accurately
- Able to manage competing priorities, establishing achievable goals, maintaining timelines, and independently completing complex assignments
- Experience collaborating across functional areas, resolving issues constructively, and supporting application users through documentation, knowledge sharing, and training

Preferred:
- A Master’s degree in health sciences, information systems, computer science, data analytics, public health, business administration, or related field
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CDHA)
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Certified Business Analysis Professional, or comparable technical or business-analysis certification
- Effective written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience using Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Python, R, or comparable data analytics and reporting tools
