Accounting and Reporting Lead

The Accounting, Reporting & Control Lead is responsible for ensuring that internal and external accounting and reporting is prepared in accordance with IFRS and BP Group Accounting policies for the designated entity(ies) and businesses. This role is accountable for the integrity of accounting across the end to end process, including those activities carried out within the GBS and provides assurance to the RPT regional controllers

The role works closely with business stakeholders, GSC and GBS to ensure matters of control, financial system requirements, capability and integrity are properly considered and applied, and provides the main interface with audit/tax and the GBS/BPO.

In this role You will:

- Manages the T&S RPT business finance to deliver end-to-end financial accounting and reporting processes, ensuring activity is recorded and reported accurately and in a timely manner, whilst supporting transparency, integrity and operating excellence.
- Explores automation/continuous improvement opportunities to bring out synergies and deliver efficiencies in the process.
- Builds capability through inspiring teams to learn new skills, adopt new practices and seek growth opportunities.
- Develops and maintains a series of internal and external relationships to ensure the successful delivery of accounting and reporting projects, utilizing advanced technical capabilities to support requests, issues, activities, audits, and planning.
- Manages a team to provide solutions to drive the simplification and standardization of accounting and reporting processes, encouraging collaboration to design and implement system and process improvements and ensure internal and external best practices are shared across the wider team.
- Coordinates analysis and explanation of reports and accounts to ensure informed decision making, making sure that data is retained and meets obligations.Lead the control agenda across the supported business, to assure a robust control environment; co-ordinate business control reviews, health checks and audits in local entities, and follow up on the recommendations and
- findings. This includes IT/Systems risks and controls.
- Manages a team of direct reports, ensuring the appropriate expectations, principles, structures, tools and responsibilities are in place to deliver the plan and deliver excellence. In line with continuous conversations, have regular honest and constructive dialogue with team members to support performance and career development while following bp’s expectation outlined in the CoC and ‘Who we are’..

What You will need to be successful:

- Finance & Accounting Professional/ Graduate with 6-8 years relevant experience
- Recognised accounting qualification
- Hands-on experience in process re-engineering, improvements, and strong drive on process transformation
- Experience in process transformation initiatives
- Experience in managing teams (as finance lead, team leader or audit manager)
- 5+ years of experience coaching and/or leading others
- Proven track record in Financial Accounting
- Relevant BP business experience and knowledge
- Proficiency in English
- Able to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a consistent track record of delivery against tight deadlines
- Innovation and organisational change management proficiencies
- Ability to align operational and project management tasks and priorities
- Self-confident appearance in relation to the internal and outside world
- Strong communication and cooperation skills
- Knowledge of SAP financial modules / functionality and reporting tools.
- Oil/Energy industry experience and knowledge with an understanding of the terminology, business functions and processes is a big plus.
