As a Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) from concept through production. Working closely with cross-functional teams, customers, and industry partners, you will help deliver high-performance, reliable, and manufacturable cooling solutions that meet the evolving needs of the data center industry.

What You Will Do

- Lead NPI development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) from concept through production launch.
- Drive design activities including feasibility studies, prototyping, testing, validation, certification, and manufacturing readiness.
- Design and develop CDU systems and components with a focus on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
- Build and evaluate thermal, hydraulic, and integrated assembly prototypes.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver products that meet market and customer requirements.
- Create engineering drawings, technical reports, design reviews, and product documentation.
- Support product certification activities, including UL compliance requirements.
- Continuously improve product performance, reliability, efficiency, and cost.
- Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and support engineering best practices and change management processes.

Position Details

- Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid)
- Schedule: Full-time, standard business hours
- Travel: Minimal travel as required for business needs

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a product design role.
- Experience designing components and assemblies for high-volume production.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and cooling system design principles.
- Knowledge of process piping, P&IDs, HVAC systems, and fluid transfer systems.
- Experience with pumps, motors, heat exchangers, and sensor selection, testing, and validation.
- Familiarity with NPI, PLM, PDM, and engineering change management processes.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks.

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA or eligibility to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience in product design within the HVAC, building mechanical, or thermal management industries.
- Experience with rapid prototyping methods and thermal-mechanical testing.
- Proficiency in CFD, heat transfer, FEA, and other advanced simulation tools.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or similar product design methodologies.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers.
- Physical Requirements of Position
- Ability to work in office, manufacturing, and laboratory environments.
- Ability to evaluate prototypes, test equipment, and engineering assemblies.
- Occasional lifting and handling of engineering components and test hardware.
