About this role

Job Title: Electrical Designer Job Description The Electrical Designer develops detailed electrical design drawings and technical documentation for power distribution systems in industrial and semiconductor environments. This role focuses on creating accurate and code-compliant designs for switchgear lineups, lighting layouts, grounding and lightning protection systems, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality, constructible designs that meet client and industry standards. Responsibilities

- Develop detailed electrical design drawings and technical documentation for power distribution systems, including switchgear lineups, lighting layouts, grounding systems, and lightning protection systems.
- Determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing by carefully evaluating current loads, environmental conditions, and applicable standards to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Assess cable tray fills methodically to ensure proper cable management, organization, and allowance for future expansion and scalability.
- Perform detailed short circuit calculations to accurately determine fault currents, select appropriate protective devices, and support overall system safety and reliability.
- Perform precise voltage drop calculations to verify electrical system stability and compliance with relevant industry standards and codes.
- Ensure all electrical designs strictly adhere to applicable local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations, as well as internal design standards and client requirements.
- Apply established electrical design techniques such as load flow analysis and fault current calculations, and exercise sound judgment when adapting and modifying design concepts to address project-specific challenges.
- Uphold quality control by following team and company electrical design standards, industry best practices, and thorough review processes.
- Produce power distribution schematics, panel schedules, lighting and grounding plans, and other system diagrams aligned with industry standards and client criteria.
- Interpret electrical one-line diagrams accurately and translate them into clear construction documents and coordinated design packages.
- Collaborate effectively with other designers, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders on assigned objectives and complex project features.
- Contribute to resolving unusual or complex design problems by analyzing options and helping derive practical, technically sound solutions.
- Foster strong collaboration, communication, and strategic alignment within the electrical design team and with multidisciplinary groups including mechanical, structural, process/chemical, and architectural disciplines.
- Coordinate with inter-company and cross-functional teams to optimize efficiency, quality, and use of project resources.
- Support industrial and semiconductor projects, including tool install and related systems, by providing accurate and timely electrical design deliverables.
- Use AutoCAD and, when applicable, Revit and electrical analysis tools such as ETAP and EasyPower to create, revise, and maintain design documents.
- Participate in design reviews and respond to feedback by updating drawings and documentation to reflect design changes and field conditions.

Essential Skills

- GED or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 2 years of electrical design experience, preferably in power distribution and industrial environments.
- At least 1 year of experience working on industrial projects or similar facilities such as data centers, semiconductor plants, tool install projects, healthcare facilities, or oil and gas sites.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for creating and modifying electrical design drawings and construction documents.
- Ability to produce power distribution schematics, panel schedules, lighting layouts, grounding plans, and other system diagrams that align with industry standards and client criteria.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical one-line diagrams and translating them into detailed construction documents and coordinated design packages.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams that may include mechanical, structural, process/chemical, and architectural disciplines.
- Solid understanding of local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations and the ability to apply them consistently in design work.
- Ability to perform and document short circuit calculations and voltage drop calculations as part of system design.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage cable tray fills, conduit and conductor sizing, and other design parameters accurately.
- Effective communication skills for working with designers, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site full-time and support project needs with a flexible start time and occasional overtime.
