AltaGas - Operator 5, Slave Lake
AltaGas is seeking an Operator 5 to join the Enerchem Partnership facility in Slave Lake, Alberta. Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, and indirectly to the Plant Manager, this position is a shiftwork hourly role. The Operator 5 is an entry-level position with no supervision responsibilities and is designed for individuals looking to build their skills in plant operations. The successful candidate will support senior team members in ensuring all facility activities are completed safely and in compliance with AltaGas and applicable third-party policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
You Will:
- Assist with the safe and efficient operation of the facility while working a 12-hour day/night shift schedule.
- Participate in safety programs, including the site's safety committee and emergency response activities.
- Complete required training and maintain compliance with company learning and competency requirements.
- Develop a working knowledge of plant processes, equipment, operating procedures, and product handling activities.
- Assist with plant logs, sampling, laboratory testing, and routine maintenance activities.
- Support product loading and offloading operations and related documentation requirements.
- Perform housekeeping activities to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Assist with equipment flushing, basic troubleshooting, and general operational tasks.
- Learn product flow, tank management, and plant operating modes, including recycle and production systems.
- Identify, report, and help mitigate hazards while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Work collaboratively with team members to develop operational knowledge and technical competencies.
You Have:
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED required.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driver's abstract.
- Previous experience in an industrial, oil and gas, chemical processing, or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Strong willingness to learn, develop technical competencies, and work effectively as part of a team.
