AltaGas - Senior Document Controller
AltaGas is looking for a Senior Document Controller to support our Midstream operations and capital projects. Reporting to the Supervisor, Document Control, you will act as a subject matter expert for document control processes, systems, and governance while supporting the effective management of documents throughout their lifecycle.
You will partner with project teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain accurate, accessible, traceable, and compliant project and operational records.
You will:
- Serve as a subject matter expert for document control systems, lifecycle management, numbering conventions, metadata standards, and controlled records.
- Develop and improve document control procedures, standards, work instructions, and governance documentation while ensuring compliance with corporate, regulatory, and project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Document Controllers, project teams, contractors, and business stakeholders.
- Coordinate document submissions, reviews, transmittals, interdisciplinary checks, as-built packages, turnover documentation, QA/QC records, and project closeout deliverables.
- Oversee the creation, review, approval, distribution, retention, archival, and disposition of controlled documents and records.
- Monitor contractor compliance, support audits, resolve document control issues, and identify corrective actions and process improvements.
- Support the implementation and optimization of Electronic Document Management Systems and related digital transformation initiatives.
- Maintain document quality, integrity, traceability, and accessibility, including accurate distribution matrices.
- Develop and analyze document management metrics, dashboards, and trends to support performance improvement and decision-making.
You Have:
- A high school diploma with at least five years of progressive experience in document control, records management, or information management within engineering, construction, operations, or capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of document lifecycle management, information governance, compliance, metadata, and records management principles.
- Experience supporting project teams, contractors, audits, governance, and process improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency with Electronic Document Management Systems such as SharePoint, OpenText Extended ECM, Aconex, Bluebeam, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Experience implementing or improving document management systems and technologies.
- Knowledge of applicable records, privacy, copyright, archival, and access-to-information requirements.
