AltaGas - Operator 4, Slave Lake
AltaGas is seeking an Operator 4 to join the Enerchem Partnership facility in Slave Lake, Alberta. Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, and indirectly to the Plant Manager, this position is a shiftwork hourly role. The Operator 4 is a junior to intermediate-level position with minimal supervision duties and supports senior team members in ensuring all activities at the facility are completed safely and in compliance with AltaGas and applicable third-party policies, procedures, and requirements.
You Will:
- Complete plant logs, chemical logs, sampling, and laboratory testing independently.
- Perform routine weekly and monthly maintenance activities without supervision.
- Operate and monitor plant processes to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
- Adjust and troubleshoot equipment, including chemical injection systems, pumps, filters, and instrumentation.
- Support safe work permitting processes, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Confined Space Entry requirements.
- Perform product transfers, tank management, and shipping-related activities as required.
- Maintain and service plant equipment, including filters, strainers, transmitters, and related process components.
- Demonstrate knowledge of plant process flow, operating systems, and product streams.
- Safely transition plant systems between operating modes, including recycle and production states.
- Participate in plant optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, and assigned Plant Champion responsibilities.
- Promote a strong safety culture through hazard identification, reporting, and compliance with AltaGas policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the training and development of less experienced operators as required.
You Have:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Previous experience in an industrial, oil and gas, chemical processing, or manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning plant operations and process equipment is an asset
- 4th Class Power Engineering certificate would be considered an asset
- Familiarity with safe work practices, hazard identification, and permit-to-work systems is an asset.
- Strong willingness to learn, develop technical competencies, and work effectively as part of a team.
