The Opportunity:

The UCF IT department within University Operations is seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Analyst III to serve as a senior technical resource supporting audiovisual, telecommunications, and network-connected technology systems across the institution. This position provides technical expertise for technology infrastructure projects, structured cabling systems, construction coordination, quality assurance, commissioning, and enterprise technology deployments that support academic, research, and administrative environments.

Responsibilities:

AV Systems Technical Leadership & Support

- Serve as the university's primary audiovisual subject matter expert, providing technical leadership, standards guidance, commissioning oversight, and quality assurance support for enterprise audiovisual systems.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and support audiovisual technologies, including conferencing systems, instructional technology, digital signage, lecture capture systems, projection systems, audio/video distribution systems, and related network-connected technologies.
- Support the implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of network-connected audiovisual and telecommunications systems.

Quality Assurance & Commissioning

- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews for audiovisual, telecommunications, structured cabling, wireless, and network infrastructure projects.
- Conduct inspections, testing, commissioning, infrastructure validation, and operational readiness assessments to ensure compliance with university standards and project requirements.

Infrastructure & Construction Project Coordination

- Coordinate technology installations associated with new construction, renovation, and technology modernization projects.
- Provide oversight and coordination with contractors, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders during implementation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Support telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure, including equipment installations, system upgrades, and network modernization initiatives.

Documentation & Standards

- Develop technical recommendations, implementation plans, project documentation, and infrastructure requirements for technology projects.
- Maintain technical standards, operational procedures, testing documentation, as-built records, and inventory information while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .

Preferred Qualifications :

- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise audiovisual systems — including instructional technology, conferencing platforms, digital signage, and lecture capture systems — using AV control platforms such as Crestron, QSC, Q SYS, BIAMP, Extron, or similar.
- Experience with structured cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, wireless technologies, and network-connected technology systems, with familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices.
- Experience conducting quality assurance (QA), quality control (QC), commissioning, acceptance testing, and infrastructure validation activities.
- Experience supporting technology installations associated with new construction, renovation, or infrastructure modernization projects, including the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, BICSI, CCNA, or similar technical certifications.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, consultants, and vendors on large technology implementations, including managing multiple concurrent project workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures, and to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

This role may require occasional evening and weekend hours to support university events and technology implementations.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $56,030 - $62,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
