About this role

Job Title: CAD Drafter Job Description
This role supports an innovative AI initiative focused on automated design engineering processes. Instead of creating manufacturing designs directly, you will help train next-generation AI models by working with mechanical design data and 3D CAD models. You will play a key part in reviewing, labeling, and enriching engineering data so it can be used to develop advanced AI-driven design tools and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Review, label, and annotate mechanical design data to support AI model training and validation.
- Work extensively with 3D CAD geometries and formats such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, and related CAD systems.
- Interpret and analyze mechanical designs, including design changes and engineering decision-making.
- Apply a strong understanding of simulation methodologies and design iterations to evaluate and refine engineering data.
- Evaluate, benchmark, and augment existing design and simulation data to improve AI model performance.
- Generate additional design and geometric data as needed to expand and diversify AI training datasets.
- Collaborate on the development and refinement of AI-driven workflows and automation tools for design engineering processes.
- Use mechanical design and drafting expertise to identify data quality issues and recommend improvements to processes and standards.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement by suggesting enhancements to data handling, annotation practices, and automation approaches.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience, ideally in manufacturing-related environments.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design frameworks and engineering decision-making processes.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD models and geometric data, including complex assemblies and detailed components.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or comparable 3D CAD systems.
- Solid knowledge of drafting practices and standards in mechanical design engineering.
- Ability to interpret design changes, understand their impact, and analyze associated engineering rationale.
- Experience working with simulations and an understanding of simulation methodologies and design iterations.
- Demonstrated ability to work with CAD models, simulations, and geometry analysis in an engineering context.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with automation tools and AI-driven workflows is highly desired.
- Exposure to AI tools and concepts related to process improvement and automated design engineering.
- Background in process improvement and optimization of engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with data evaluation, benchmarking, and augmentation techniques in an engineering or CAD environment.
- Candidates with more senior experience (1020+ years in mechanical design) are also strongly considered.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote setting and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Work Environment
This position operates in a remote work environment, allowing you to collaborate virtually with engineering and AI-focused teams. You will work primarily with digital tools and platforms, including 3D CAD software such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, and related systems, as well as AI and automation tools used to support design engineering workflows. The role centers on computer-based tasks involving CAD models, simulations, and data analysis, with a focus on structured, detail-oriented work that supports advanced AI initiatives in mechanical design.
