About this role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Project Manager to oversee electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of project management experience with a self-performing commercial electrical contractor and a strong understanding of electrical construction, field operations, project financials, and client management.

This hands-on leadership role requires the ability to manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, manpower, change orders, and field coordination while ensuring projects are completed safely, profitably, and on time. Experience with large-scale commercial, healthcare, higher education, institutional, or manufacturing projects is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction and planning through installation, commissioning, and final closeout.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, procurement, manpower planning, cost forecasting, and overall financial performance.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating milestones with field teams, general contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor labor productivity, job costs, billing, cash flow, change orders, and project profitability.
- Coordinate daily with superintendents, foremen, electricians, subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction documents to identify scope requirements, conflicts, and potential risks.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, material procurement, change orders, commissioning, punch lists, and project closeout documentation.
- Coordinate project transitions between estimating, preconstruction, BIM/VDC, and field operations teams.
- Collaborate with BIM/VDC teams on constructability reviews, clash detection, coordination, and installation planning.
- Lead project meetings and maintain effective communication with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and internal teams.
- Identify and resolve issues related to project scope, scheduling, budgets, procurement, labor, and field execution.
- Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance to maintain project quality, cost control, and schedule compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company standards, quality requirements, and jobsite safety procedures.

Requirements

- 5+ years of project management experience with a commercial electrical contractor.
- Required: Direct experience working for a self-performing commercial electrical contractor.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial electrical projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, construction sequencing, coordination, and field operations.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement, manpower planning, billing, forecasting, change orders, and profitability.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and other construction documents.
- Experience coordinating with estimating, preconstruction, BIM/VDC, field operations, and project leadership teams.
- Strong knowledge of electrical project costs, labor productivity, material procurement, and financial controls.
- Proficiency with construction project management software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with healthcare, higher education, institutional, manufacturing, industrial, or other complex commercial projects is highly preferred.
