The Opportunity :
The UCF IT division within University Operations is seeking a highly organized and collaborative IT Project Manager I to support the Programs and Initiatives Management Office (PIMO) within UCF Information Technology. This position plays a key role in advancing strategic technology initiatives by coordinating projects, tracking deliverables, supporting executive communications, and promoting operational excellence across the IT organization.
The successful candidate will assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of complex technology initiatives while ensuring projects remain aligned with organizational goals, budgets, timelines, and quality standards. This role also supports innovation, AI/automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance technology services across the university.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support multiple technology projects from initiation through implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and organizational objectives.
- Monitor project progress, maintain continuity, track milestones, and provide timely status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Create, organize, and maintain comprehensive project documentation, schedules, reports, and project records.
- Facilitate project meetings, team stand-ups, and stakeholder communications, ensuring transparency and collaboration across project teams.
- Partner with executive stakeholders, business units, and technical teams to advance priority initiatives and achieve project goals.
- Track project budgets, expenses, and financial data to support accurate reporting, reconciliation, and budget compliance.
- Identify project risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating concerns and recommending mitigation strategies as appropriate.
- Support AI and automation initiatives focused on improving IT processes, operational efficiency, and service delivery across the organization.
- Maintain project management tools, templates, and documentation standards while ensuring adherence to PMO methodologies and best practices.
- Participate in lessons learned sessions, post-project reviews, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen project delivery capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with senior project managers and IT leadership to support strategic planning initiatives and organizational priorities.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6) .
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience supporting projects, programs, or operational initiatives in a professional environment.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, project documentation, or stakeholder communications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting technology, IT, digital transformation, or business process improvement projects.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.
- Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Jira, ServiceNow, Planner, or similar platforms.
- Experience facilitating meetings, documenting action items, and tracking project deliverables.
- Strong data analysis and financial tracking skills, including budget monitoring and reporting.
- Experience supporting executive-level communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Interest or experience in AI, automation, process improvement, or operational excellence initiatives.
- Project management certification or training such as CAPM, PMP, Agile, Scrum, or equivalent
- Experience working in higher education, information technology, or other complex organizational environments.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
- The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
