Position Summary:
The Middle School Boys Basketball Director is responsible for leading and developing a competitive, values-based(insert sport) program that reflects the mission and educational philosophy of Wichita Collegiate School. The coach will be expected to foster a positive team culture focused on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth while supporting the overall student-athlete experience.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring student-athletes, promoting leadership and character development, and building a program that supports both competitive success and student well-being
The primary responsibilities
• Ability to work the entire boys basketball season; December 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027.
• Attend practices, games, meetings and all other basketball functions during that time
• Teach and mentor students of different skill levels
• Meet with US Head Coach on a weekly basis to discuss Middle School program and implementation of the Upper School system
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and a background in basketball or work-related experience.
Ideal candidates demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Previous coaching experience and a knowledge of the sport of Basketball.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes and coaches.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to actively coach on the court during practices and games.
• Ability to lift and move athletic equipment when needed.
Work Environment: This is a part-time, stipend coaching role. The primary work location is the Upper School gym on Wichita Collegiate School campus. Practice times are Monday through Friday, 4:00pm - 6:00pm, with some evenings and weekends based on game schedules.
