Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Project Manager owns one or more complex, high-value projects spanning countries, delivery teams, suppliers and technology domains. The role is accountable for project execution, commercial control, governance, risk, customer satisfaction and successful handover.

Typical Activities Include

Senior Project Leadership

- Lead complex, high-value AI infrastructure and data centre projects from mobilisation through acceptance and operational handover.
- Build and maintain the integrated project plan, work-breakdown structure, milestones, dependencies, resources and governance cadence.
- Coordinate technical workstreams, suppliers and delivery teams; assign clear actions, remove blockers and hold owners to committed dates.
- Maintain project controls, including RAID logs, decisions, change requests, reporting, escalation and recovery plans.

Project Mobilisation and Delivery Readiness

- Partner with Sales, Solutions, Finance, Commercial, Procurement, Legal and Service Delivery to confirm that scope, assumptions, resources, dates and acceptance criteria are executable.
- Lead project mobilisation, delivery-readiness reviews and the sales-to-delivery handover, closing gaps before execution begins.
- Baseline the project scope, schedule, budget, governance, stakeholder plan and delivery controls.

Executive Stakeholder Management

- Build trusted relationships with senior customer, partner and Lenovo stakeholders.

- Present programme status, financial performance, risks, mitigations and outcomes to executive steering committees.
- Influence timely decisions and align stakeholders across geographies and functions.

Financial and Commercial Ownership

- Own programme budgets, forecasts, resource utilisation, revenue, margin and profitability throughout the delivery lifecycle.

- Protect commercial outcomes through contractual compliance, disciplined change control and supplier performance management.
- Drive delivery efficiency, financial accuracy and customer value.

Technical Delivery Leadership

- Own end-to-end AI infrastructure and data centre delivery, from design and site readiness through installation, integration, commissioning, acceptance and operational handover.

- Direct deployment of GPU clusters, racks, cabling, network, storage and software, coordinating power, cooling and facility dependencies across live, new-build, colocation and hyperscale environments.
- Convert the solution into an integrated critical-path plan covering resources, budget, quality, safety, testing and acceptance.
- Lead design assurance, FAT, SAT, integrated systems testing, performance validation and defect closure, maintaining control of scope, schedule, cost, risk, change and dependencies.

Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Partner Delivery

- Own the manufacturing, partner and supply-chain plan, aligning engineering approvals, bills of material, production, long-lead items, logistics and required-on-site dates to the critical path.
- Hold OEMs, suppliers, logistics providers, construction and colocation partners, and specialist subcontractors accountable for capacity, quality and milestones.
- Anticipate production, component, transport, customs and site-access constraints; drive recovery, alternate sourcing or resequencing before milestones are affected.
- Coordinate factory testing, shipment, receipt, storage and installation release so equipment arrives complete, compliant and aligned to site readiness.

Project Governance and Continuous Improvement

- Apply consistent project governance, delivery methods, controls and reporting standards.
- Capture lessons learned and improve project quality, predictability and customer satisfaction.
- Support and mentor project coordinators and less-experienced project managers when required.

Skills and Preferred Experience

Required Experience

- 10+ years managing complex, high-value technical projects, including direct accountability for mission-critical data centre or AI infrastructure delivery.

- Proven ownership of projects from mobilisation and planning through manufacturing, installation, commissioning, acceptance and operational handover.
- Demonstrated delivery across IT, electrical and mechanical workstreams, including high-density compute, power, cooling, network, storage and software dependencies.
- Strong command of project schedules, critical paths, budgets, resources, quality, safety, RAID management, change control and recovery planning.
- Proven success managing OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, logistics providers, contractors, colocation partners and specialist subcontractors against project milestones.
- Commercially astute, with experience controlling project financials, forecasts, contractual obligations, supplier performance and change requests.
- Credible with senior stakeholders, with a strong record of project reporting, customer escalation, trade-off decisions and delivery recovery.

Technical Experience

- Deep understanding of GPU-based AI infrastructure, accelerated compute, high-density rack deployments and related network, storage and software dependencies.

- Strong knowledge of mission-critical data centre architecture and MEP systems, including electrical distribution, standby power, HVAC, liquid cooling, heat rejection, fire and life safety, BMS and EPMS.
- Practical understanding of capacity, resilience, rack density, white-space readiness and the interfaces between facility infrastructure and IT equipment.
- Experience leading FAT, SAT, commissioning, integrated systems testing, performance validation, defect management and operational readiness.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing lifecycles, engineering submittals, long-lead procurement, logistics, import and export requirements, and required-on-site planning.

Leadership Competencies

- Executive presence, sound judgement and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

- Clear, concise communication with strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Decisive leadership through ambiguity, competing priorities and high-pressure delivery.
- Strong coaching capability and a record of improving organisational performance.

Certifications

- PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification preferred.

- Agile or hybrid delivery certification desirable.

Success Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior project manager who combines technical understanding, commercial discipline and strong stakeholder leadership.
