About this role
Production Operations
Execute production activities according to the approved production plan and SOPs.
Monitor production processes, equipment, and critical process parameters.
Ensure achievement of shift production targets within the planned time.
Optimize utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and utilities.
Monitor yield, productivity, rejection, rework, and downtime.
Identify process abnormalities and take appropriate corrective action.
Shift Activities
Supervise operators and junior production personnel during the assigned shift.
Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
Conduct shift briefings and communicate production priorities.
Ensure proper shift handover and communication of pending activities.
Monitor discipline, attendance, and safe working practices.
Quality & GMP Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to approved SOPs, batch/production instructions, specifications, and GMP requirements.
Ensure production documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process checks and quality-related issues.
Report deviations, incidents, and abnormal process conditions immediately.
Support deviation investigation, RCA, CAPA, and change-control activities.
Ensure proper line clearance, equipment status, cleaning, and housekeeping where applicable.
Equipment & Maintenance
Monitor equipment performance during production.
Perform routine equipment checks as per SOP.
Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns and equipment abnormalities.
Support preventive-maintenance activities and equipment improvement initiatives.
Ensure equipment cleaning and status identification are maintained.
Safety & EHS
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Promote safe operating practices within the production area.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
Ensure safe handling of raw materials, intermediates, finished products, and equipment.
Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.
Productivity & Improvement
Monitor OEE, cycle time, productivity, yield, and process losses.
Support Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous-improvement activities.
Identify opportunities for reducing waste, downtime, rejection, and rework.
Support implementation of approved improvement projects.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare daily/shift production reports.
Maintain production logbooks, batch records, checklists, and equipment records as applicable.
Record production output, downtime, manpower utilization, and process deviations.
Provide accurate shift handover information.
Escalate production, quality, safety, and equipment issues to the reporting manager.
Qualifications
Diploma / B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Chemical, Manufacturing, or relevant discipline.
3–7 years of relevant manufacturing/production experience.
Experience in shop-floor production and shift operations preferred.
GMP/API/pharma manufacturing experience preferred for regulated environments.
