GSE Service Technician (Ground Support Equipment Mechanic)

Pay: $33 - $35 per hour
Location: Plainview, NY (on-site; relocation assistance available)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

About the opportunity
Our client, a respected leader in the aviation industry, is hiring a GSE Service Technician to keep the ground support equipment behind daily aircraft operations running safely and reliably. You'll maintain, troubleshoot, and repair GSE in the shop and on site at customer locations, working alongside the maintenance team to keep downtime to a minimum.

This is a hands-on role for a mechanically minded technician who enjoys diagnosing problems and fixing them right the first time.

What you'll do
Perform routine and preventive maintenance inspections on ground support equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Inspect equipment for compliance with safety and operational standards.
Order and install replacement parts, then test equipment before returning it to service.
Document maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Coordinate repairs with other maintenance staff to minimize downtime, and help train junior mechanics.
Keep the shop, parts, tools, and supplies clean and organized.
Travel to customer locations in the service area when needed.

What you need
Hands-on experience working on Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
Proven experience as a mechanic, ideally with GSE.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and comfort with diagnostic tools.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required airport badging.
Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds unassisted, stand and walk for long periods, and work outdoors in all weather around heavy machinery.

Nice to have
Technical certification in automotive or heavy equipment repair.
ASE or EPA certifications.
Welding experience.
Fuel truck experience.
