Job Title: Distribution Engineer Job Description
We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Distribution Engineers. In this role, you will primarily focus on distribution projects, playing a pivotal role in design development and coordination. Your expertise will be essential in supporting power distribution projects, performing engineering calculations, and facilitating various project aspects such as forestry trimming requests, permit acquisition, and developing a Bill of Materials.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, and fault currents.
- Coordinate protective devices for power distribution projects.
- Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition.
- Develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) and estimate project costs.
- Engage in design development and coordination (90% of the time) with occasional fieldwork required after several months on the job (10%).
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in distribution design.
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CAD design software such as Revit, Solidworks, MicroStation, Inventor, MATLAB.
- Completed ABET-accredited 4-year Engineering Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid driver's license.
- Passion and interest in power utilities and distribution.
- Design Quality Control (QC) experience is a plus.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position located in Orlando, Florida. The work environment is collaborative, consisting of designers, engineers, and design technicians who work together on distribution projects. The office promotes teamwork and group project work, providing a dynamic and engaging atmosphere.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orlando, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
