The electrical lead will support the delivery of grid connection and electrical infrastructure services for renewable energy projects within the Owner’s Engineer team. The individual will be a senior electrical engineer with significant experience in grid connection delivery, providing technical oversight, delivery leadership and commercially aware advice across assigned projects. They will manage complex technical and stakeholder interfaces, coordinate design reviews, support high-quality client outputs and contribute to the growth of the owner’s engineer services through bid support, knowledge sharing and internal capability development.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing the delivery of grid connection and electrical infrastructure owner’s engineer workstreams for renewable energy projects.
- Acting as the point of contact for EirGrid and ESB matters, maintaining strong working relationships with the system operators and driving critical interface issues to resolution.
- Providing senior technical oversight of IPP electrical design, contestable design submissions, grid connection documentation, commissioning interfaces and project delivery risks.
- Managing day-to-day client engagement on assigned projects, ensuring communication is clear, proactive and focused on risks, decisions, actions and outcomes, while supporting strong client satisfaction and escalating strategic relationship matters as required.
- Providing practical, commercially aware advice to clients and project teams on the resolution of design, interface, commissioning, contractual and delivery issues.
- Overseeing key grid connection processes, including submissions to EirGrid/ESB, schedule of tests checklists, asset transfer processes, outage interfaces and commissioning programme coordination.
- Reviewing project progress through contractor reports, programmes, meetings and site visits, identifying emerging issues and driving timely intervention where required.
- Contributing to the growth of the owner’s engineer service by supporting pipeline development, strengthening internal capability and sharing knowledge across the team.
You’ll need to have:
- The successful candidate should hold an electrical engineering degree with approximately 10-15 years’ experience in grid connection, electrical infrastructure, renewable energy or related power sector projects.
- Candidates should have a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams, manage day-to-day client, contractor and stakeholder interfaces, provide senior technical judgement and coordinate specialist input where required.
- They should be proactive, commercially aware and confident in taking ownership of complex issues through to resolution.
- Strong communication skills, sound judgement, delivery leadership and the ability to build trust and confidence with clients are essential.
