Hardware Design Engineer Wireless Systems

Location: Ottawa, ON Our client, a global leader in networking and communications technology, is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation 4G and 5G radio products. This role is ideal for someone with experience in high-speed board design, digital hardware development, and wireless systems who wants to work on cutting-edge telecommunications products from concept through production.

Responsibilities

- Design and develop hardware for wireless radio systems and PCBAs.
- Create hardware specifications, schematics, and verification plans.
- Participate in board bring-up, debugging, integration, and performance optimization.
- Work closely with hardware, software, firmware, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support the development of 4G and 5G radio solutions aligned with industry standards.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware and system-level issues.
- Contribute to PCB design reviews, component selection, and design improvements.
- Evaluate new technologies, reference designs, and hardware solutions.
- Support transition from development into production.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of hardware design experience.
- Experience with high-speed digital design and board-level development.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with PCB design and layout concepts.
- Understanding of signal integrity principles and high-speed interfaces.
- Knowledge of digital hardware design, clocking, and power circuitry.
- Experience supporting products through development, validation, and production.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.

Nice to Have

- Experience with RF hardware design.
- Experience developing telecom or wireless communication products.
- Knowledge of 4G LTE, 5G, 3GPP, or Open RAN technologies.
- Experience working with embedded firmware or software teams.
- Familiarity with radio hardware development and validation.

This is a Contract position based out of Ottawa, ON.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
