Are you highly organised, detail-oriented and passionate about making a difference to children and young people's lives?

Swansea Council is seeking a motivated Commissioning and Placement Support Officer to join our Children's Services Operational Commissioning Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in ensuring children and young people are placed in safe, appropriate settings that best meet their individual needs and support positive outcomes.

About the Role

Working closely with the Operational Commissioning Officers, you will support the identification of suitable placement opportunities for children who cannot remain within their family home. You will also provide essential administrative and commissioning support across a range of functions, including:

- Identifying vacancies in care and support services.

- Supporting placement commissioning processes.

- Liaising with care providers and local authorities across the UK.

- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with contracted providers.

- Maintaining accurate financial and commissioning records.

- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with multiple teams, stakeholders and external providers to support effective placement and commissioning processes.

About You

We are looking for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

You will have:

- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.

- Excellent numeracy, literacy and IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.

- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet tight deadlines.

- Experience of building effective working relationships with external stakeholders.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

- A flexible and proactive approach to supporting service needs.
