Job Title: Transmission Line Technical Manager Job Description The Transmission Line Technical Manager leads the day-to-day delivery of transmission line engineering services across utility client programs and project portfolios. This role focuses on developing technical talent, maintaining disciplined project delivery, monitoring portfolio health, and ensuring that all work is executed with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, schedule, cost, and client outcomes. The position combines technical excellence with strategic leadership, offering the opportunity to mentor future engineering leaders, influence business growth, and build strong client partnerships in the power delivery market. Responsibilities
- Lead teams of engineers, designers, drafters, and project coordinators delivering transmission line engineering services for utility clients.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and training in transmission line design, standards, tools, and delivery expectations, including one-on-one mentorship when needed.
- Establish and reinforce quality control practices that support safe, accurate, cost-effective, and schedule-driven project execution.
- Monitor the health of the project portfolio, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality, risks, and client satisfaction.
- Communicate delivery performance, project risks, and operational trends to delivery leadership, project managers, and client stakeholders.
- Hold teams accountable to project baselines and ensure scope changes, change orders, estimate revisions, and delivery impacts are escalated and resolved promptly.
- Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to understand program priorities, align expectations, and keep deliverables progressing efficiently.
- Serve as a client-facing technical and delivery liaison to address issues, remove barriers, and resolve project or process inefficiencies.
- Support the resolution of invoicing, resourcing, staffing, scope, and execution issues that affect delivery performance.
- Facilitate alignment between clients and internal teams when disagreements arise related to scope, standards, processes, deliverables, or expectations.
- Drive team development by identifying training needs, supporting career growth, and building technical depth within the transmission practice.
- Contribute to estimating, proposals, and scope development to support profitable and sustainable project delivery.
- Manage profit and loss responsibilities and oversee business finances, project performance, utilization, staffing plans, and operational metrics.
- Support business growth by strengthening execution, building strong client relationships, and enhancing the organizations position as a trusted engineering partner in the power delivery market.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- At least ten years of progressive utility, power delivery, and/or transmission line engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
- At least six years of consulting, engineering services, or client-facing delivery experience working with engineering, construction, planning, project management, and utility stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams across distributed or virtual delivery environments.
- Experience executing, monitoring, tracking, and managing risk across a project portfolio greater than $5M in revenue.
- Strong understanding of transmission line project delivery, including scope management, quality control, scheduling, resourcing, estimating, and client communication.
- Proficiency in transmission line engineering and transmission line design, including use of tools such as PLS-CAD.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and delivery issues into clear, actionable updates for clients and leadership.
- Strong experience managing business finances, project performance, utilization, staffing plans, and operational metrics.
- Client-focused mindset with the ability to balance technical quality, delivery performance, consultant development, and business objectives.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $180000.00 - $210000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
