About this role

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description This Mechanical Engineer role offers the opportunity to wear multiple hats across design, new product development, and manufacturing. You will re-energize existing designs, lead new product and tool development, and work closely on the manufacturing line to ensure effective implementation of your designs. You will also manage outsourcing of parts and perform cost analysis to determine when custom components are required, contributing directly to innovative products such as aerospace systems, drones, cable solutions, and advanced security devices like eye scanners. Responsibilities

- Lead and support new product development projects, from concept through to production, with a focus on mechanical design and applications.
- Re-amp and improve existing mechanical designs to enhance performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design tools and fixtures required for production, and oversee their implementation on the manufacturing line.
- Work directly on the manufacturing floor to ensure proper implementation of mechanical designs and tools, resolving issues as they arise.
- Perform cost analysis to determine when to use standard parts versus custom components, and make recommendations based on cost, quality, and lead time.
- Manage and coordinate outsourcing of parts, collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements.
- Apply a trial-and-error mindset to testing and refining designs, making iterative adjustments based on performance and feedback.
- Collaborate closely with a small engineering team to support new and changing products, including aerospace, drone, cable, and security-related solutions.
- Incorporate feedback from cross-functional teams and production staff to continuously improve designs and processes.
- Contribute to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment by proactively identifying opportunities for improvement in design, tooling, and manufacturing.

Essential Skills

- 46 years of experience in new product development within a mechanical engineering context.
- Proficiency with Creo and Creo Parametric, with a minimum of 6 out of 10 competency level.
- 23 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical design, including designing for manufacturability and production.
- Experience with tool design and implementation in a production setting.
- Experience in product development and applications, including taking concepts through to production.
- Ability to perform cost analysis related to parts, tooling, and production decisions.
- Comfort with trial-and-error approaches, including testing, troubleshooting, and making iterative design adjustments.
- Familiarity with supply chain considerations as they relate to mechanical design and part sourcing.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Work Environment You will work on-site full time in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside a team of five other engineers. The culture emphasizes flexibility, teamwork, and an entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on working hard while also enjoying team activities such as happy hours and access to an indoor golf simulator. The office is located in a downtown area close to restaurants and amenities. The team frequently works with cutting-edge products, including aerospace components, drones, cable systems, and innovative security solutions such as eye scanners. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in a setting that encourages hands-on involvement on the manufacturing floor as well as focused design work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
