Job Summary:

The College of Engineering is seeking a Director of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Materials Science . This is a part-time (0.10 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Director of the Materials Science Interdisciplinary Graduate Program leads and coordinate the efforts of the Graduate Faculty in this program to build a strong, nationally recognized graduate degree program in the College of Engineering (COE) at Oregon State University. The Director will report to the Head of the School providing staff support to the program and will coordinate with other Engineering program directors and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA). The Program Director’s duties are at a 0.1 FTE, 12-month effort.

Key Responsibilities:

- Leads the operations and strategic planning of the program in support of the College’s and OSU's goals and mission
- Manages the budget of the program and allocates other resources.
- Makes decisions and solves problems related to the program.
- Maintain the master workplan, milestone dashboard, and project document repository.
- Work with the Graduate Faculty to select students for admission, to
- establish and manage the instruction of the core curriculum in consultation with the schools, and to evaluate students’ progress.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

- Tenured faculty member
- Graduate faculty status in the materials science program

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in academic program administration

# Working Conditions/Schedule:
Normal business hours. Occasional meetings after hours for events or student recruitment and advising.

Salary Range:

Salary is commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
