About this role

Job Title: Construction Project Engineer Job Description This Construction Project Engineer role supports complex commercial and advanced industrial projects by managing construction documentation, coordinating between office and field teams, and ensuring accurate, timely project execution. You will work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain project flow, contribute to estimating and planning, and uphold high standards of quality and organization across all project phases from setup through closeout. Responsibilities

- Create, manage, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other construction documentation using Excel and project management software.
- Support quantity takeoffs, estimating activities, and materials analysis for assigned scopes of work.
- Coordinate daily activities between office teams and field leadership, assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent with communication, scheduling, and task follow-through.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and construction documents to support field and office decision-making.
- Assist with procurement activities, including maintaining document logs, updating status reports, and helping ensure materials and equipment arrive as planned.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation, prioritizing correctness and clarity over speed.
- Communicate proactively with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and keep stakeholders informed.
- Assist with project setup, including document organization, jobsite logistics planning, and coordination with project stakeholders.
- Support project closeout by organizing and compiling closeout documentation and ensuring all records are complete and properly filed.
- Use Microsoft Office, including Excel, and construction software tools such as Procore and Bluebeam (or similar) to manage project information and reporting.
- Contribute to project coordination and project management activities for commercial and large-scale projects, particularly in advanced industries.
- Demonstrate strong communication, work ethic, and attention to detail while supporting a fast-paced project team.

Essential Skills

- Experience in construction, preferably in commercial construction or with a general contractor or architectural subcontractor.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Understanding of construction materials, methods, and basic construction workflows.
- Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, contracts, change orders, and related construction documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
- Experience with project management and project coordination activities.
- Experience supporting estimation, quantity takeoffs, and materials analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with field and office teams.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, adapt, and support a fast-paced project environment.
- Solid work ethic and reliability in following through on tasks and responsibilities.

Work Environment This role is primarily onsite at a manufacturing facility in Peoria, with the expectation that you attend meetings at an office in Tempe as needed. You will work closely with field leadership and office teams in an environment that combines jobsite activity with office-based coordination and documentation. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Peoria, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
