Job Title: ROC Operator Job Description The ROC Operator monitors and controls remote energy storage sites in real time from a centralized Remote Operations Center. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of utility-scale energy storage systems by responding to alarms, coordinating with field personnel, and supporting customers. The position offers the opportunity to work in the rapidly growing battery power and energy storage industry while contributing directly to grid reliability and renewable integration. Responsibilities

- Monitor and operate remote energy storage sites in real time to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve alarms, faults, and abnormal events using established procedures and tools.
- Track and document customer support requests in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including Salesforce.
- Communicate issue status, troubleshooting steps, and resolution details clearly and promptly to customers.
- Coordinate with field personnel by providing operational support during maintenance activities and system interventions.
- Follow all defined safety protocols, operating procedures, and compliance requirements during all activities.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze numerical and operational data to support decision-making and issue resolution.
- Use SCADA and related software tools to visualize system performance and diagnose operational issues.
- Assist in interpreting electrical single-line diagrams and network drawings to support troubleshooting and operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to escalate complex issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain a strong sense of urgency and ownership for all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Provide excellent customer service and apply effective conflict resolution skills when handling customer concerns.
- Adapt to rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and provide coverage for scheduled and unscheduled shift vacancies.

Essential Skills

- Minimum 2-year degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical work experience.
- Proven sense of urgency and strong ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear internal and external communication.
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts and operational scenarios to various stakeholders.
- Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze numerical and operational data to support troubleshooting.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Strong computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Experience or capability in systems support, energy systems, SCADA, and network support.
- Customer service experience in a technical or operational environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience working in a Remote Operations Center environment.
- NERC Certified Operator credential or NERC operations experience.
- Experience with data-visualization platforms or similar monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with SQL and basic data-analysis techniques.
- Experience with distributed power generation, renewable energy, or industrial controls.
- Computer skills including SCADA operations, MS Office, or basic Linux usage.
- Ability to interpret electrical single-line diagrams and network drawings.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field (preferred).

Work Environment This role is based in a Remote Operations Center located in Durham, NC, focused on utility-scale energy storage solutions integrated with traditional and renewable power generation. The environment is highly technical and fast-paced, supporting some of the most demanding developers, utilities, government agencies, and industrial organizations. The position follows a 12-hour shift (7am-7pm) pattern, including weekends, with rotation between day and night shifts every 16 days. Team members work extensively with SCADA systems, energy management software, data-visualization tools, CMMS platforms such as Salesforce, MS Office, and basic Linux environments. The setting is a professional control-room environment that requires sustained attention to detail, adherence to safety and operational procedures, and effective communication with both internal teams and external customers. The schedule structure typically provides every other weekend off, offering a balance between intensive shift work and regular time away from the control room.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
