Southern Health Partners is seeking a Mental Health Provider to join our healthcare team at the Shelby County Jail in Alabama.

This position is open to qualified Psychiatric Registered Nurses (Psych RNs) or Licensed Counselors who are passionate about providing meaningful mental health care to an underserved population.

What Youll Do

As a Mental Health Provider with Southern Health Partners, youll play an important role in supporting the behavioral health needs of patients within the facility.

Responsibilities may include:

- Conducting mental health assessments and evaluations

- Identifying behavioral health needs and developing appropriate treatment recommendations

- Providing individual counseling and therapeutic interventions, as appropriate to your credentials

- Monitoring patients for changes in mental health status

- Collaborating with medical and correctional healthcare team members

- Participating in treatment planning and coordinating appropriate services

- Providing crisis intervention and mental health support when needed

- Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation

- Educating patients regarding mental health treatment and available resources

- Supporting continuity of care and appropriate referrals when indicated

- Following established clinical, safety, and security procedures

Qualifications

What Were Looking For

Psychiatric Registered Nurse

- Current RN license in the state of Alabama

- Psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience preferred

- Current CPR certification

Licensed Counselor

- Current applicable Licensed Counselor credential in the state of Alabama

- Master's-level mental health counseling experience preferred

- Experience providing behavioral health assessments, counseling, or crisis intervention

For All Candidates:

- Strong clinical assessment and communication skills

- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team

- Strong documentation and organizational skills

- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

- Ability to work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday

- Comfortable working in a structured, safe, and secure correctional environment

- Correctional healthcare experience is a plus, but not required
