Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Job Description
This role supports a growing mail order pharmacy by operating automated dispensing equipment, preparing and packaging medications with precision, and ensuring every order meets strict quality and safety standards. You work closely with a collaborative team to provide accurate, timely, and reliable service to patients while following all pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain automated dispensing equipment to ensure accurate and efficient medication dispensing.
- Prepare, count, label, and package medications with a high level of precision and care.
- Perform quality control checks on medications and orders to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with regulations.
- Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including fulfillment of mail order prescriptions.
- Assist with warehouse operations, including inventory handling, storage, and distribution of medications and supplies.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service in a retail and mail order pharmacy environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by pharmacy standards and regulations.
- Protect patient information by maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Manage time effectively to meet daily productivity and accuracy expectations.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks within established deadlines.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eligibility for Kentucky Pharmacy Technician registration or license (license can be obtained upon hire).
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medication preparation and packaging.
- Solid organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and complete work efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately.
- Capability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
- Comfort working in customer service and retail pharmacy settings.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with shipping, receiving, and distribution activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- No prior pharmacy or warehouse experience required; training is provided.
- Experience in customer service, retail, or fulfillment environments is beneficial.
- Background in warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, or warehouse distribution is an advantage.
- Familiarity with fulfillment processes in a warehouse or mail order setting is helpful.
- Interest in learning to operate automated dispensing and packaging equipment.
- Willingness to obtain and maintain Kentucky Pharmacy Technician credentials as required by state regulations.
Work Environment
This position is based in a mail order pharmacy operating within a warehouse-style environment that supports retail and fulfillment activities. You work around automated dispensing equipment, storage shelving, and shipping and receiving areas. The role requires standing for most of an 8-hour shift and handling medications and packages throughout the day. Typical schedules align with daytime hours, such as approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, depending on business needs. The environment emphasizes safety, accuracy, teamwork, and adherence to pharmacy regulations, with a focus on providing reliable service to patients across a growing mail order operation. Dress expectations align with a professional pharmacy and warehouse setting, prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and practicality.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Southgate, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
