Job Summary:
Operates various plant equipment. Position requires demonstration of competency for all on-the-job activities that may have a direct or indirect effect on product safety, legality, and/or quality.
Essential Functions: Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, and Sanitation, etc.) Properly packaging finished product to customer requirements/specifications. Thread up production line in preparation of running as necessary and remove loose scrap. Accurately record weights of rolls and/or cases produced on the assigned line. This includes finished products and scrap. Obtain production labels properly place on product. Account for all rolls produced via accumulations sheet(s). Inspect product being produced for width, length, count, seals, and other dimensions/attributes depending on product. Must become familiar with all safety and control features of equipment assigned to. Assure cores are proper length for product and set correctly. Maintain an adequate quality of packing materials at line. Working in a safe manner always wearing all required PPE. Maintain a clean, clutter-free workspace. Ensure that all scrap is disposition to supervisor’s instructions (reclaim or bale) Assures proper machine setup for product being produced. Code placement and legibility. Removal of unacceptable product Ensure all Process Control Point checks are performed correctly. If any do not fall within AAP guidelines report to Supervisor immediately Perform QA checks every hour reporting any problems to Supervisor immediately. Assure proper threading and alignment of labels using threading diagrams on each machine. Record raw material lot numbers accurately. Accounts for all rolls produced via MV Base Performs additional duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience :
Education, Training & Professional Experience: High School Diploma or GED or 3 years working in related manufacturing areas.
Basic math skills Good communication skills: - Speech and hearing abilities that allow the individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English, and/or another language if required. Ability to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc.
Knowledge & Employment Standards: Operate and understand the functionality of manufacturing equipment. Sensory - Ability to distinguish color coded equipment, containers, label, signs, etc.
Communication skills - abilities are essential. Team Dynamics – Empowerment, Collaboration, Motivation, and Enthusiasm Setting and Achieving Goals in a High-Performance Work Environment - Self-motivated and high performance oriented Written and Oral Communication – strong. Reasoning Skills – Apply common sense understanding, to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to be conscious of surrounding area and multifunctional if needed. Trained in customer requirements and to use it successfully on the job. Physical Requirements & Abilities: Ability to move to all production areas of plant. Physical ability to stand a minimum of 8 hours to a maximum of 16 hours daily. Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders up to 10 feet high. Ability to climb steps up to the mezzanines that can reach heights between 40 and 60 feet. Ability to stoop and bend while lifting weights up to (50) lbs. Ability to climb onto and crawl under machinery as required. Ability to work in 110-degree environment. Physically capable of moving quickly to all areas within the packaging area. May need the ability to exert the necessary force to move wheeled equipment weighing approximately 150 lbs.
