MetroCorps Private Limited is a newly established project management company in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, delivering engineering design, procurement and project controls for design-build projects of US clients across Africa, the GCC and Europe. Every project is designed through conceptual, developmental, pre-final and final stages with licensed US Professional Engineers, and taken from the first page of the RFP to handover. Our programme includes modular and containerised living units, substation renovation, medium-voltage switchgear, UPS and generator systems, wastewater treatment plants and building renovation. The role
We are building the founding team of our Hyderabad office and are looking for a Civil Design Manager to head the design department. You will lead the civil and structural design effort on live international design-build projects, review and approve the mechanical and electrical output of the design team, and own the design programme from RFP response to record documentation. This is a leadership role with direct exposure to US clients and licensed Professional Engineers in the United States.
What you will do
- Head the design department and lead the civil and structural design effort, making sure every deliverable answers the project RFP and the agreed basis of design.
- Own and develop the basis of design, design criteria, technical specifications and design calculations for civil and structural scopes.
- Review and approve all design output produced by the mechanical and electrical design engineers and the draftsman before issue.
- Own the design programme (deliverable registers, discipline milestones and design-review gates) across the conceptual, developmental, pre-final and final stages.
- Chair internal design reviews, record comments, and verify close-out of all review and client comments before re-issue.
- Coordinate design positions with the licensed Professional Engineers in the United States who review and stamp our work.
- Verify design and material submittals for technical compliance, and give clear technical recommendations on supplier and subcontractor proposals.
- Manage inter-discipline coordination and clash resolution, maintain the design change and assumption logs, and support bid preparation: RFP study, design approach, technical narrative and design-hour estimates.
What we are looking for
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering; M.Tech, Chartered Engineer or PE registration an advantage.
- 8–15 years of design and design-management experience on building or infrastructure projects with a reputed EPC/GC, PMC or design consultancy.
- Proven ability to lead a multi-discipline design team and to review and approve mechanical and electrical output at a technical level.
- Strong command of design codes, specifications, calculations and submittal review; AutoCAD, Revit and structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro, ETABS or equivalent).
- Experience delivering design to a client RFP under a design-build arrangement, with formal design-review gates and comment close-out.
- Exposure to US or international codes (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7 or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
- Excellent written English and the confidence to defend technical positions with clients, suppliers and internal teams across time zones.
