About this role
Purpose
The dockhand manages marina operations by assisting with docking, securing lines and refueling.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- To register yachts/boats according to Lyford Cay Club Standard.
- To secure boats with lines upon arrival and departure of the yachts.
- To assist with docking/undocking.
- To ensure that boats are properly tied up and ensure that they are not striking against the dock or otherwise.
- To monitor dock power and water supplies.
- To operate fuel docks and safely fill vessels according to regulations.
- To conduct safety checks, and report potential hazards or security issues to the Harbour Master.
- To follow the daily checklist.
- To paint Harbour pilings, garbage bins, curbs, storage boxes and touch up painting in other areas.
- To make minor repairs/adjustments to Member/Guests’ boats when requested to do so by the Harbour Master.
- To refer any requests for outside work on boats to the Harbour Master.
- To service all Members/Guests of the Harbour as quickly as possible and in a friendly manner.
- To carry out any reasonable requests made by Members as they pertain to the Harbour; referring to the Harbour Master when in doubt.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent work in outdoor and in weather-exposed conditions.
- Able to lift heavy items, stand, and kneel for extended periods.
- Will be required to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak season.
