About the Role:

As an RN Circulator at Quincy Medical Group, you will be an essential member of the surgical team, coordinating patient care throughout the operative experience and helping maintain a safe, efficient surgical environment. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, nurses, and other team members to ensure each patient receives high-quality, individualized care.

Schedule & Work Environment

- Full-time, four 9–10 hour shifts per week.
- Typical start times are between 6:00–6:30 a.m., with shifts ending between 3:00–4:00 p.m. based on the established schedule.
- This position works in a fast-paced surgical environment and requires flexibility based on procedure schedules and patient care needs.

Primary Responsibilities

- Coordinate nursing care throughout the surgical procedure and serve as the patient's advocate while in the operating room.
- Complete appropriate patient assessments, verify required documentation, and ensure readiness for surgery.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other team members to prepare for each procedure.
- Maintain a safe operating room environment and ensure appropriate sterile technique, infection prevention, and surgical safety practices are followed.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, equipment, supplies, medications, specimens, and other needs throughout the procedure.
- Perform and document required surgical counts in collaboration with the surgical technologist or appropriate team member.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond appropriately to changes in the patient's condition or procedure.
- Accurately document intraoperative nursing care, medications, specimens, implants, and other required information in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate relevant patient information during transitions of care and support a safe handoff following the procedure.
- Participate in quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives within the surgical environment.

Qualifications

- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- Current CPR/BLS certification required.
- Previous operating room, perioperative, procedural, or surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Strong nursing assessment and clinical judgment skills with the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and surgical safety practices preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills with the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced procedural environment.

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $28.94 - $43.41 per hour , with actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through bonuses and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
