Plant Supervisor
The Plant Supervisor is a hands-on production leadership role responsible for overseeing daily whey manufacturing operations, employee performance, productivity, quality, food safety, sanitation, equipment reliability, and compliance. The position directly supervises production employees, ensuring work is planned, assigned, and completed safely, efficiently, and within established cost, quality, and production standards.
The supervisor is responsible for staffing and scheduling, employee training and development, performance management, employee relations, and addressing workplace issues and complaints with effective solutions. The role also coordinates activities across departments and works closely with production, maintenance, quality, and other operational teams to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
A key responsibility is maintaining compliance with company policies, GMPs, OSHA requirements, and FSSC 22000 food safety and quality standards. The supervisor supports audits, investigations, preventive maintenance, sanitation, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring equipment and facilities are properly maintained and production processes operate effectively.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field, or at least three years of experience in food manufacturing. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, mathematical, computer, and technical skills are required. Experience with MS Office, production equipment and controls, statistical methods, quality investigations, and food safety systems is highly valued. Advanced food safety or quality certifications are a plus.
