Quality Lab Technician - 3rd Shift Job Description The Quality Lab Technician ensures that all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards by performing testing, inspection, documentation, and audits throughout the production process. This role works on either a second shift (MondayFriday, approximately 3:00 p.m.11:30 p.m.) and provides critical support to a regulated manufacturing environment that supplies chemicals to multiple industries. Responsibilities

- Inspect and verify raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, packaging materials, and processing aids to ensure they meet established specifications and quality expectations.
- Provide disposition for the receipt, inspection, and release of raw, in-process, and finished product, as well as packaging materials and processing aids.
- Issue, review, and file batch records, labels, facility documentation, and seals for manufacturing and packaging activities.
- Create and issue Certificates of Analysis for all shipments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
- Prepare customer-specific documentation and labels according to individual requirements and regulatory standards.
- Review Certificates of Analysis provided with raw materials and containers and verify conformance against internal specifications.
- Perform validation and verification of monitoring activities at all stages of production in accordance with governing regulations.
- Conduct product sampling, inspection, and analysis for raw materials, in-process samples, and final products.
- Perform and/or coordinate third-party product testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure reliable and accurate testing results.
- Review department systems and workflows to identify opportunities for process and procedure improvements.
- Apply all product quality and safety standards consistently during daily activities.
- Promptly report any product safety incidents or concerns to the appropriate supervisory or management personnel or designated back-up.
- Participate in internal audits and quality checks to ensure compliance with governing regulations and certifications.
- Use laboratory techniques such as titration, pH measurement, wet chemistry, HPLC, ICP, and pipetting to perform quality control testing.
- Accurately document test results, maintain complete and organized lab records, and support traceability requirements.
- Collaborate with production and quality team members to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.
- Perform other related duties as needed to support laboratory operations and overall quality assurance goals.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred, including exposure to frameworks such as SQF, FAMI-QS, IPEC, or similar standards.
- Hands-on experience with testing methodologies and the ability to analyze and interpret laboratory results accurately.
- Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques, including titration and pH measurement.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC and ICP for chemical analysis.
- Experience in quality control, including raw material testing, in-process testing, and final product testing.
- Ability to perform precise pipetting and other standard laboratory techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to issue, review, and maintain batch records, Certificates of Analysis, and related quality documentation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for communication, data entry, and reporting.
- Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory and production setting.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues across different disciplines and levels within the facility and corporate functions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience in a quality assurance or quality control laboratory supporting chemical manufacturing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and certifications related to fertilizer and food-grade chemical applications.
- Comfort working with and interpreting Certificates of Analysis from suppliers and internal testing.
- Experience participating in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives within a regulated environment.
- Ability to adapt to staggered shift schedules and collaborate effectively with team members working different hours.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate and compliant documentation.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with production personnel and other cross-functional partners.

Work Environment The role is based in a quality laboratory that works with industrial chemicals used in fertilizer and food-grade applications. The lab operates in close proximity to a production environment, and the technician regularly interacts with production personnel to coordinate sampling, testing, and product disposition. The area outside the lab is an active manufacturing floor where forklifts and other equipment are in use, and communication with production staff often occurs via walkie-talkies. The quality team consists of multiple technicians working staggered shifts, with one to two technicians typically in the lab at any given time, fostering a collaborative yet focused atmosphere. The work environment offers exposure to multiple regulatory frameworks and industry standards, along with a friendly and open culture that supports learning, professional growth, and cross-functional collaboration.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
