About this role

Role Objective:

To lead and
deliver complex, high-value aircraft and engineering-related projects across
the airline’s fleet lifecycle, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective
execution of heavy maintenance events, aircraft transitions, Entry Into Service
programs, End-of-Lease returns, ACMI inductions, and fleet modification
initiatives. The role exists to ensure aircraft are delivered, maintained,
modified, and transitioned in line with regulatory requirements, contractual
obligations, and operational readiness standards, while minimizing downtime and
optimizing fleet availability.

Duties and
Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage aircraft engineering and fleet-related projects from
initiation through completion.
- Coordinate and oversee the BFE selection and procurement process by
working closely with user departments and the Technical Materials Department,
ensuring that all equipment meets operational and technical requirements, and
that procurement and delivery activities are completed in accordance with
project schedules and program objectives.
- Manage all routine and non-routine checks including regular WP, engine
change, fuel nozzle change, modification tasks.
- Interface directly with relevant departments to effectively manage
contractual obligations, including negotiating amendments arising from design
modifications or schedule changes, resolving any contractual disputes, and
ensuring the successful and formal closure of contracts upon project
completion.
- Review, coordinate, and support the preparation of proposals, statements
of work, technical specifications, cost estimates, and contract negotiation
activities to assist the Director of Engineering in evaluating options,
selecting the most suitable solutions, and determining appropriate actions.
- Act as the key liaison between internal stakeholders and external
parties regarding aircraft specifications, build configuration, and production
processes to ensure effective communication, coordination, and timely
resolution of project-related matters.
- Oversee contracted heavy maintenance activities, including C-Checks,
structural inspections, cabin refurbishment programs, aircraft painting, and
other major maintenance events.
- Coordinate with contracted MRO organizations to ensure successful
planning, execution, and redelivery of aircraft undergoing heavy maintenance.
- Manage aircraft hangar induction and redelivery processes while ensuring
adherence to schedules, budgets, quality requirements, and regulatory
standards.
- Monitor project milestones, maintenance findings, and work scope
changes, implementing corrective actions when required.
- Manage Entry Into-Service (EIS) programs for newly acquired aircraft by
overseeing acceptance activities, technical records review, modifications,
certifications, crew readiness, spare provisioning, and operational
integration.
- Ensure that all required paperwork and documentation are properly
generated, controlled, and cleared in accordance with approved procedures
before releasing the aircraft for service.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of technical records, publications,
and documentation for the entire fleet. Oversee the maintenance of manuals,
bulletins, and logbooks to comply with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Lead End-of-Lease aircraft return projects, ensuring compliance with
lease return conditions and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate aircraft inspections, records reviews, maintenance actions,
and redelivery activities with lessors and technical representatives.
- Manage induction of short-term wet lease (ACMI) aircraft, including
technical acceptance, regulatory approvals, operational integration, and
project coordination across all departments.
- Support aircraft acquisitions, lease transitions, and fleet
phase-in/phase-out activities.
- Plan and manage implementation of aircraft modifications, upgrades, and
fleet enhancement initiatives.
- Coordinate with OEMs, design organizations, engineering teams,
suppliers, and regulatory authorities for modification approvals and
implementation.
- Develop comprehensive project plans that clearly define project scope,
objectives, timelines, milestones, budgets, resource requirements, and
execution strategies, while ensuring effective allocation and utilization of
resources throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify, assess, and monitor project risks and potential
challenges that may impact project performance, and develop appropriate
mitigation and contingency strategies to minimize operational disruptions,
schedule delays, and financial exposure.
- Ensure that all project deliverables are completed in accordance with
the defined technical specifications, applicable regulatory standards, safety
requirements, quality expectations, and commercial obligations, while
maintaining compliance with organizational policies and industry best
practices.
- Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, technical reviews, progress
discussions, and stakeholder engagement activities to ensure effective
communication, timely decision-making, alignment of project objectives, and
successful resolution of issues throughout the project execution phase.
- Represent Salam Air as a technical representative in meetings with
aircraft manufacturers, vendors, and industry operators, ensuring effective
review of project progress, timely resolution of technical issues, and
alignment with agreed project timelines and objectives.
- Perform any additional tasks as assigned by superiors.

Requirements

- Graduate in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Electrical Engineering, or
alternatively Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license ICAO type II.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the aviation industry, including
at least 5 years in leading technical projects.
