Lighting Designer / Operator – Theme Parks & Events
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Job type: Contract Salary: Competitive, based on experience
We are seeking an experienced Lighting Designer / Operator to create and operate lighting across a large-scale destination attraction in Riyadh. The role combines creative design with hands-on technical work across architectural spaces, landscaped areas, public spaces, restaurants, live entertainment and special events.
Key responsibilities
- Develop lighting concepts for building faades, gardens, pathways, water features, public spaces and restaurant areas.
- Create lighting scenes for performances, seasonal activations, festivals and events.
- Oversee lighting installation, commissioning, programming and calibration.
- Operate and manage Avolites, show-control systems, architectural lighting controls and smart lighting systems.
- Inspect lighting installations and coordinate maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
- Maintain equipment and spare-parts records, and support safe installation practices.
- Work with creative, production, architecture and operations teams to deliver a cohesive guest experience.
Requirements
- Diploma or bachelors degree in Lighting Design, Architectural Lighting, Theatre Production, Electrical Engineering, Entertainment Technology or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of experience in architectural or entertainment lighting design.
- Experience in theme parks, destination attractions, resorts, entertainment venues, public spaces or hospitality developments is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of architectural, landscape, faade and experiential lighting.
- Experience with Avolites, intelligent lighting, show-control systems and architectural lighting controls.
- Ability to read architectural drawings, lighting plans and technical documents.
- Strong communication, creative problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
